Step 1: Start the Machine

Turn on the washing machine and start any function (preferably a quick wash). Wait for 1 minute.

Step 2: Check Water Intake

If the washer is not taking water, check:

Humming Noise: If present, inspect the inlet pipe, water supply tank, and inlet filter.
If water enters the drum, ensure it fills within 5 minutes. Longer times indicate low pressure.
After filling, the water supply should stop. If it doesn’t, check the inlet valve and pressure sensor.

Step 3: Check Drum Rotation

Once the drum is filled:

Top-load: Drum should rotate in both directions.
Front-load: Drum should rotate slowly in one direction.

If not rotating, check the motor and PCB as follows:

Verify if the motor is receiving input voltage.
If voltage is present, replace the motor.
If no voltage, check wiring and PCB output. Replace components if necessary.

Step 4: Check Drain Function

After washing, the drain function should empty water from the drum:

For top-load washers: Inspect the drain motor, dump valve, and pipes for blockages.
For front-load washers: Open the pump filter, clean debris, and retry.
If the drain motor is not working, check its power supply and replace faulty parts.

Step 5: Rinse Mode

During rinse mode:

The machine should repeat the process of filling water, rotating the drum, and draining 1-3 times.
If the drum doesn’t move, troubleshoot the motor as described in Step 3.

Step 6: Spin Mode

In spin mode:

For top-load washers: Ensure the drain motor aligns the gear for spinning.
If the machine doesn’t reach high speed, check leveling and suspension.

DD mmotors- set multimeter on continuity mode and place probes on any two terminals, value should be between 8 ohm to 20 ohm in each two terminals. Terminal to ground should be infinite (no reading)

AC motor- value from common terminal to any one terminal should be equal to other terminal.

value should not be below 5 ohm and more than 1k.

terminal to ground should be ♾️. Infinite

Spin motor (Semi automatic washer)

set meter on continuity mode

Semi motors are oprated with AC 230v (india) having two windings rotate in one direction

Common to run (winding) should be less than common to start winding.

common to ground should be infinite

Top load washer clutch assembly/gear box/package

How to check clutch assembly or gear box

Friction sound/ uneven sound, drum shaking or jerking may be due to gearbox assembly defect.

Drain motor Top load washer

Drain motor or drain pump testing

Drain- Drain motor in picture is AC supply operated.

set multimeter on Ac mode and put probes on terminal, turn on the machine and start on spin mode. AC 230 v(india) should be seen on meter if drain motor is faulty.

If motor is DC then put multimeter set to DCV and reading should be 12VDC if motor is faulty and not working.

Drain motor function is checked visually in spin mode, water comes out if drain motor is not faulty.
